Gospodar prstenova I-III

John R. R. Tolkien

The Lord of the Rings is an epic fantasy novel written by the English academic and philologist J. R. R. Tolkien. The story began as a sequel to Tolkien's earlier work, The Hobbit, but developed into a much larger and more complex story.

Set in Middle-earth, LOTR arose as a sequel to Tolkien’s The Hobbit. Tolkien commenced writing LOTR in 1937, and it was published first in three volumes in 1954 and 1955 and then as a single volume in 1968 (as Tolkien originally intended). LOTR has won many literary awards and is one of the most beloved works of 20th century literature and best-selling books ever written, having been translated into over 50 languages. LOTRis considered a watershed in literature, influencing music and popular culture, and has been adapted for stage, film and radio.
