U "Ekspoziciji tame" pratimo dečaka koji odrasta u (izmišljenom) selu Viru, smeštenom između Koprivnice, Đurđevca i Bjelovara, od kalendarskog i stvarnog (sarajevskog atentata) početka 20. veka do kraja II. svetskog rata.

Ispričan iz ugla slepca, zvanog Mračni, koji je ujedno i njegova centralna tačka, radnja romana Izlaganje tame odvija se u zamišljenom podravskom selu Viru, gde je bogata trgovačka porodica Aviro završila kao rezultat migracije. Njihova kuća je centar intelektualnog života, otmeniji i civilizovaniji od drugih, dah Beča, pa ne čudi što slepi dečak iz siromašne, nepismene porodice proređene i oštećene Velikim ratom želi i žudi da bude kao oni. , jedan od njih, ceo život. Selom će tutnjati dva svetska rata sa strašnim i dugoročnim posledicama, carstva će postati kraljevine i republike, u tom drugom ratu vojske će se smenjivati na vlasti i u teroru, mnogi će prodati obraz da sačuvaju glavu, ljudi će kao pravilo, potčinjeno i nacionalno biti homogenizovano.
