Mutivoda
Mutivoda je roman iz Balzakovog velikog ciklusa „Ljudska komedija“ (La Comedie humaine). Radnja se odvija u malom provincijskom gradu Arcis-sur-Ob, gde izbore za parlamentarnog predstavnika pokreće dolazak misterioznog kandidata.
Glavni junak, mladi advokat Čarls Dorlenž, predstavlja „novu krv“ u političkom životu, nasuprot starim, korumpiranim elitama koje žele da zadrže vlast. Njegov glavni protivnik, Maksim de Traj, planira iza kulisa da progura nepoznatog kandidata sumnjivog porekla. Da bi uspeo da se suprotstavi intrigama, Dorlang mora da pokaže moralnu snagu, političku mudrost i lični integritet.
Balzak u „Mutivodama” pokazuje kako politički uspeh u Francuskoj zavisi ne samo od sposobnosti i zasluga, već i od intriga, veza i manipulacija. Roman predstavlja oštru kritiku političkog oportunizma i korupcije, dok u isto vreme razvija intimne priče o ljubavi, časti i ličnim ambicijama.
Iako je „Mutivoda” zbog Balzakove smrti ostala nedovršena, njena kompleksna analiza provincijskog političkog života i unutrašnjih borbi pojedinaca savršeno odražava duh „Ljudske komedije” i pruža dragocen uvid u dinamiku moći, licemerje i moralne dileme savremenog društva.
