The book is a biographical account of the life of Ratko Čapek, a young Croatian mountaineer, scout and nature enthusiast, who became a symbol of idealism, courage and spiritual strength in post-war Croatia.
The author depicts Ratko's life through the prism of his love for the mountains, especially the White Rocks, but also through his spiritual maturity, moral fortitude, and sacrifice. Although he died young, Čapek left a strong impression on all who knew him, and it is this inspiration that Nagy uses to encourage the reader to reflect on values such as faith, patriotism, honesty, and selflessness through his story.
