The novel "Space Traders" by the author duo Pohl-Kornbluth is considered the ultimate achievement of science fiction.

Easily written in 1952, the novel brilliantly outlines a future in which consumption has overtaken production, and advertising has taken a key place not only in the economy but also in all social activities. The power of advertising that succeeds in convincing consumers that they absolutely need even a useless product is extremely impressively described. The novel suggestively warns that all cultural activities can easily turn into manipulation with incalculable consequences for the future of humanity.
