Mali smakovi : Kako se zaista desilo?
Selvedin Avdić wrote his diary for a year, from March to March. The book literally has a beginning and an end.
Namely, the title of the first diary entry is The Beginning, it was written on March 1, the Independence Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the last entry is called The End and describes the death of the father. Events, memories, comments, sketches for stories, quick portraits of people who marked Avdić's past fit into that frame. In the selection of daily events, the writer often chooses those images in which some loss is manifested, some small end of this world stopped in the – often wartime – past from which it does not manage to find a way out. In an exemplary fragment of the book, Avdić talks about a man who dug a hole 4.5 meters deep, literally buried the remains of his house destroyed in the war in it, placed a tombstone on the mound, and took that plate with the house number with him to Sweden as a souvenir. At the same time, everything written in the diary leads to the final fragment, a great personal loss. This book of exceptional beauty is a dedication to his father, an elegy about the city and our disappearing world.
