Istanbul: Grad, sjećanja

Orhan Pamuk

The book Istanbul: City, Memories is an autobiographical and essayistic work in which Orhan Pamuk intertwines his own memories from childhood and youth with the history and spirit of Istanbul.

A boy from a good family, who dreams of becoming a painter, wanders the suburbs of his hometown and listens to the stories of abandoned houses. His mother is rightly afraid that the boy will become a bohemian, which is not such a fairy-tale calling in Istanbul as in Paris. Finally, the boy puts away his brushes and paints and announces to his mother that he will become a writer.

This is his book. His name is Orhan Pamuk.
