"Enigma" do pobjede

"Enigma" do pobjede

Ilija Marinković

The story of three Polish mathematicians who cracked the German Enigma cipher machine in the 1930s. Their secret work allowed the Allies to read Nazi messages during the war, shortening it by years and saving millions of lives.

Ilija Marinković brings a fascinating story about one of the most important, and long-hidden episodes of World War II. At the heart of the story are Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski - young Polish mathematicians who achieved what was considered impossible in the Warsaw Cipher Bureau: they cracked the German Enigma.

Using revolutionary mathematical methods instead of traditional cryptanalysis, they managed to reconstruct the working principle of the most complex encryption machine of their time. After the Nazi invasion in 1939, in a dramatic evacuation, they transferred their knowledge to the French and British, where it became the basis of work at Bletchley Park.

Marinković, a long-time correspondent from Warsaw, had access to rare sources and testimonies. His book sheds light on the Polish contribution that was decisive for the Allied success for the first time in our region. Combining documentary precision and narrative tension, the author makes a complex topic accessible, showing how the genius and courage of individuals changed the course of history.
