Najčešći vestibularni poremećaji
We have learned that diagnosing most of the most common vestibular disorders, such as persistent postural-perceptual vertigo (PPPD) and vestibular migraine (VM), does not require any laboratory equipment, but only a good knowledge of clinical diagnostic c
Similarly, in the case of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), the diagnosis is made solely by performing diagnostic tests, without any need for additional examinations. Unfortunately, although these causes of vertigo are among the most common in the adult population, they are still unrecognized in our country today and, therefore, inadequately treated. There are many objective and subjective reasons that contribute to this: from inadequate space and equipment in medical offices, insufficient time for examination, poor education, to completely unjustified indifference and failure to give these disorders the attention they deserve, although they are not at all harmless due to the possible serious consequences in the form of falls and injuries. In addition, the most common vestibular disorders largely prevent patients from performing their daily functions, both family, work and other, and thus represent a major public health problem. After years of persistent attempts to promote vestibular rehabilitation methods and repositioning procedures here and in the wider region, through numerous held workshops and lectures, published "Croatian guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of BPPV" and many other scientific works on the subject of BPPV, my colleagues and I realized that just this kind of book-textbook with detailed picture and video instructions could make a significant advance in better diagnosis and treatment of BPPV in the future, here and in the neighboring countries of the region.
