Izvještaj za školsku godinu 1946.-47. Prva gimnazija (muška) Osijek

"Report for the school year 1946/47" of the First Boys' Gymnasium in Osijek is an annual school report from the first post-war period. It contains data on classes, students, teaching staff and the work of the school during the reconstruction period.

The official publication was published in Osijek in 1947. It is a classic annual report (annual report) of a high school, such as those regularly printed in the 19th and first half of the 20th century.

The First Men's Gymnasium in Osijek (its official name after the war) is one of the oldest and most prestigious high schools in Slavonia. In the 1946/47 school year, it operated under the conditions of reconstruction after World War II, in the new socio-political system of the Federal People's Republic of Yugoslavia. The report provides an overview of:

  • the number of students and classes,
  • student success (pass rate, grades, matura),
  • teaching staff and their qualifications,
  • the condition of school premises and equipment,
  • extracurricular activities,
  • the health status of students, and other relevant data.

This report is particularly interesting because it reflects the transitional period: changes in curricula, the introduction of a new ideological orientation in education, and the school's efforts to recover from the devastation and losses of the war. Many students and teachers were killed or displaced during the war, and the school faced a shortage of textbooks, space, and materials.

Today, this edition is a rare antiquarian copy and a valuable historical source. It is useful for researchers of the history of Osijek education, educational policy in the first post-war years, and the everyday life of high school students in Slavonia immediately after 1945.

It represents an authentic testimony to the work of one of the leading Osijek grammar schools in a turbulent period when the entire educational system was adapting to new social circumstances.
