Proslava stogodišnjice rođenja Franje Račkoga

"Celebration of the Centenary of the Birth of Franjo Rački" is a collection of speeches and contributions from the academic celebration in honor of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Croatian historian and the first president of the Academy.

Celebration of the Centenary of the Birth of Franjo Rački in Zagreb on 1 and 2 June 1929 is a collection of works published by the Yugoslav Academy of Sciences and Arts (JAZU) in the same year in Zagreb. The book contains reports, speeches and contributions given during the ceremonial academy in honor of the centenary of the birth of Franjo Rački (1828–1894), one of the most important Croatian historians, politicians, priests and founders and the first president of JAZU (1868–1886).

The celebration was held over two days and brought together prominent intellectuals from the Kingdom of SHS/Yugoslavia. Among the main speakers was Ferdo Šišić with a lecture on Franjo Rački Historian, and other prominent scholars also participated, who assessed Rački's contribution to Croatian and South Slavic historiography, the politics of the Illyrian movement, work on church union and the founding of the Academy.

The collection reflects the spirit of the interwar period — emphasizing Yugoslav unity while simultaneously highlighting Rački's contributions to Croatian national culture and science. Rački is celebrated as a pioneer of critical historiography, a researcher of medieval sources (especially the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts), and a fighter for Croatian national rights.

The 1929 JAZU edition represents the official memorial to one of the founders of the Academy and is an important source for studying the reception of Franjo Rački's works in interwar Yugoslavia. Today, this booklet is a bibliographical rarity, sought after by collectors and historians. It testifies to the continuity of the scientific heritage of JAZU/HAZU and to how a figure who profoundly shaped modern Croatian historiography and cultural identity was celebrated at that time.
