Junaci Domovinskog rata #8
The eighth book in the series brings twelve new testimonies of Croatian defenders whose courage, unity, and sacrifice are woven into the history of the Homeland War.
In the eighth book of the Heroes of the Homeland War series, Davor Runtić continues to record the authentic testimonies of Croatian veterans, creating a valuable document about people who contributed to the creation and defense of the Republic of Croatia. As in the previous sequels, the stories were created on the basis of conversations with the participants of the Homeland War, their comrades and available documentary material, which gives each chapter a special credibility.
The book presents the life and war journeys of Branko Kosorčić, Valter Zupčić, Zdravko Hodak, Miljenko Klobučar, Mila Blažević, Ante Topić, Marij Rupić, Dražen Baniček, Ante Brkan, Željko Ljiljanić, Bernard Štajduhar and Martin Božanović. Their stories reveal the different paths by which ordinary people became defenders - from voluntarily joining the defense of the homeland and the first days of war to demanding tasks on the front lines, responsibility towards comrades and facing the consequences of war.
Each testimony carries its own emotion and experience: somewhere at the center are dramatic combat situations, somewhere the strength of friendship and togetherness, and somewhere life decisions made in moments when there was no room for doubt. It is this diversity that makes this book a valuable mosaic of human destinies that together depict the real face of the Homeland War.
The eighth book of the series once again confirms the author's mission - to preserve from oblivion the names and deeds of Croatian veterans and to leave to future generations an authentic testimony of a time when courage, responsibility and love for the homeland were more important than one's own safety.
