"At Night at the Bar" (published in 2020) is a specific and highly acclaimed collection of haiku poetry by the famous Croatian poet, editor and cultural activist Siniša Matasović. In this unusual and refreshing poetic creation, the author combines the strict, traditional form of the Japanese triplet with the modern, urban and authentic ambience of night bars, cafes and city streets. Instead of the classic motifs of untouched nature and the change of seasons that are common in haiku, Matasović's nature in this collection becomes bars, dim lights, cigarette smoke, glass glasses, reflections in the mirror and the silence that occurs between two songs from the jukebox.
