Slišiš, Školjka Poje Ti!

Lačni Franz

The album "Slišiš, Školjka Poje Ti!" by the cult band Lačni Franz was released in 1984 by Helidon. It is a great concert release recorded live in Ljubljana and Maribor with a selection of their greatest hits.

The album "Slišiš, Školjka Poje Ti!" is a concert album by the Slovenian and Yugoslav alternative rock band Lačni Franz, released in 1984 under the auspices of the Helidon record label. It was recorded live in December 1983 at performances at the Slovenski mladinsko gledališče in Ljubljana (side A) and at the Nigrad hall in Maribor (side B), thus symbolically connecting these two city centers and the band's base.

Through ten carefully selected songs, this release brings a cross-section of the band's work to date, led by the charismatic Zoran Predin. The repertoire is divided into the Ljubljana part, which contains songs such as "Lipa zelenela je", "Lent 1980", "Nekaj lepljivega", "Prosim pazi, da mi ne pohodiš podočnjakov" and "Včasih kak pajac kriči", and the Maribor part with the hits "Naša Lidija je pri vojakih" (with the participation of the band Topzizza), "Ne mi dihati za ovratnik", "Paloma", "Bitles" and the legendary "Praslovan".

Musically, the album faithfully conveys the unique energy, stage theatricality, witty and provocative lyrics and the specific art-rock/new wave sound of Lačno Franz live. Mixed in Ljubljana's Metro studio with engineer Iztok Černe, the album is visually emphasized by the opening (gatefold) cover with photographs and design by Mišo Hochstätter, representing a superb document of the Yugoslav alter-scene of that time.
