(Ne)zrelost

(Ne)zrelost

Gabbie Hanna

"(Im)aturity" (2018) by Gabbie Hanna is a collection of confessional poetry and illustrations. He speaks honestly and humorously about growing up, anxiety, love and the challenges of the millennial generation.

The collection of poems and drawings "(Ne)zrelost" (originally Adultolescence), by American author, vlogger and comedian Gabbie Hanna, was published in Croatian translation in 2018 by Znanja. The book brings 150 short, intimate poems and accompanying author's illustrations that directly reveal the emotional world of a young person caught on the border between childhood and adulthood. Relying on a simple, conversational style and the contemporary poetics of social networks, Gabbie Hanna speaks about topics such as anxiety, depression, insecurity, unrequited love and constant pressure from the environment. The author does not embellish reality; her voice is at the same time vulnerable, self-ironic and imbued with black humor, which provides readers with a sense of recognition and comfort. The work perfectly captures the spirit of the millennial generation struggling with the expectations of modern society while trying to define their own identity. "(Im)maturity" is an accessible, visually striking and honest read that reminds you that it's perfectly okay not to have all the answers and that the process of growing up is often chaotic, but also liberating.
