Blue Jean / Dancing With The Big Boys
On a 1984 single, David Bowie pairs the infectious pop-rock hit “Blue Jean” with the energetic “Dancing With The Big Boys,” in a Yugoslav Jugoton release featuring the original picture sleeve.
David Bowie – Blue Jean / Dancing With The Big Boys, 1984 Yugoslavian 7" edition released for Jugoton / EMI America, catalog number SEMIA 89050, with original artwork taken from the visual identity of the album Tonight.
"Blue Jean" is one of Bowie's most recognizable songs of the eighties - a rhythmic and highly memorable blend of pop and rock, built around a solid rhythm, guitars and distinctive vocals. The song was the lead single from the album Tonight and became an international hit; in the UK it reached number 6 on the singles chart.
The B-side features "Dancing With The Big Boys", a much more tense and experimental composition written by Bowie, Carlos Alomar and Iggy Pop. The song shows a slightly darker and more unconventional side of the album Tonight, creating an interesting contrast to the more accessible cover of the single.
Jugoton's edition represents the local Yugoslav variant of the original EMI America single and is of particular interest to local collectors of Bowie releases. The copy comes in the original Jugoton picture sleeve shown in the photo, with visible signs of use and age.
