The Abduction of a Man is a romance novel by Milica Jakovljević Mir-Jam in which the author questions the established social patterns of male-female relationships in a humorous and somewhat ironic way. Starting from the unusual idea that a woman takes an active role in winning a man, Mir-Jam builds a story filled with love intrigues, misunderstandings and emotional upheavals.

The plot is set in the middle-class environment of Serbia between the two world wars, where social conventions, family reputation and financial status strongly influence the choice of a life partner. Through the meetings of young people, salon gatherings, family conversations and unexpected circumstances, the relationship between the main characters develops, whose feelings are often determined by pride, insecurity and fear of rejection. The author gradually reveals their characters, showing how vulnerability and the need for sincere closeness are hidden behind apparent self-confidence.

The title "abduction" is not a crime motif, but a symbolic expression for winning hearts and breaking traditional expectations about who should make the first move in love. Through humor, vivid dialogue, and psychologically compelling characters, Mir-Jam depicts the conflict between social norms and personal desires, emphasizing the importance of mutual trust, respect, and freedom of choice. The novel combines a romantic plot with a depiction of civic life, remaining true to the author's signature style, in which love, family, and moral values ​​are at the center of the narrative.
