Robert Ludlum

Holcroft's Bargain is a spy thriller by Robert Ludlum, published in 1978. This is one of Ludlum's classic works, combining international conspiracies, complex characters and an intriguing plot with historical roots.

Noel Holcroft, a quiet and average architect from New York, unexpectedly finds out that he has been left a huge fund in the amount of 4.5 billion dollars. The fund was created before the end of World War II by a group of Nazi bankers, including Holcroft's late father. The goal of the fund is allegedly to correct war injustices and help the victims of the Nazi regime.

However, as Holcroft begins to uncover the details of this fund, he realizes that dark forces are at play. This fund is not only a vehicle for reparations, but also part of a wider conspiracy that includes the surviving Nazis and their successors, who are planning to return to the world political scene. Noel becomes a key figure in the race between thwarting the conspiracy and protecting himself from deadly threats.

Holcroft's Bargain blends historical fact with fictional elements, creating a suspenseful story that is equally politically and personally intriguing. The novel was also adapted into a 1985 film of the same name, starring Michael Caine.

This is an ideal read for fans of thrillers with historical and political themes.
