Život u malom, tračerskom južnjačkom gradiću u kojem je rasizam još uvijek uobičajena pojava, s majkom koja je tretira kao tinejdžericu, s ocem čiji je Alzheimer u uznapredovanoj fazi te s bratom koji i sam ima iza sebe nekoliko propalih brakova izgledat će Lin kao novi krug pakla.
