Demokracija u pluralnim društvima

Demokracija u pluralnim društvima

Arend Lijphart

This book examines one particular form of democracy - consociational democracy, which means that it may be difficult, but not impossible, to achieve and maintain a stable democratic government in a plural society.

Cooperation between the elites is a basic feature of consociational democracy. It serves as an explanation of the political stability of a number of smaller European democracies, which is dealt with in the first part of the book. The second part of the book deals with consociational democracy as a normative model of particular importance for the plural societies of the Third World.
