Osmeh kraljevića Marka: pripovetke
"The Smile of Marko Kraljević" is a collection of ten short stories by Marguerite Yourcenar with motifs from folk folklore, traditions and legends, from the Balkans through India to China and Japan.
Taoist fairy tales, Serbian epic poetry, Hindu and Greek mythology are just some of the starting points of Marguerite's stories. Stories from the East that are actually magic, magic, fortune-telling, silent weaving, meeting the mundane with the supernatural and otherworldly, the eternal with the current. In the oriental stories of Marguerite Yourcenar, we meet Wang-Fo who "loved only the images of things, not the things themselves, and nothing in the world seemed to him worthy of acquisition"; the most famous Japanese lover Zhen-Shi; our Kraljević Marko, who wanders around Kotor and, of course, gets into trouble; nymphs and the conflict of old and new - Christianity with the old mythological world and many other Eastern legends.
