Das Buch „Illustrated Man“ erschien 1951, es erschien (in unserem Land übersetzt als „The Tattooed Man“) und besteht aus 18 Geschichten, die durch eine Einleitung und einen Epilog lose verbunden sind. Mehrere Geschichten aus diesem Buch bleiben anthologische Werke des Genres („Big Rain“, „Highway“, „South African Wasteland“, „Zero Hour“, „Kaleidoskop“ …).
