Djela Friedricha Overbecka u Đakovu

Djela Friedricha Overbecka u Đakovu

Branka Balen, Zvonko Maković

Johann Friedrich Overbeck, German painter. Studied at the Vienna Academy. In 1809, he founded the artistic Brotherhood of St. Luke.

He painted a large number of biblical compositions in German and Italian churches and villas with a romantic style of simple artistic expression and precise drawings, and made numerous cardboards for frescoes. In these compositions, he stayed within the limits of conventionality, and his portraits are more artistically valuable.
