This book, as a bilingual edition (Croatian-English), is intended for experts and the general public, i.e. all interested readers who have an interest in the artistic heritage of Croatia.

In 2011, the Institute for the History of Art in Zagreb marked half a century of existence and uninterrupted work in the field of Croatian art history. In that period, the institute played a significant role in the development of historical art science in Croatia, especially in the research and presentation of the national artistic heritage.

The Institute's scientists have written numerous scientific and professional articles, published books, produced TV and radio shows, participated in the preparation of large exhibitions (e.g. Holy Trail, 900th year of the Zagreb Archdiocese), making a major contribution to better knowledge, evaluation and interpretation of Croatia's artistic past.
