Veliki svjetski muzeji: Galerija Uffizi, Firenca

Veliki svjetski muzeji: Galerija Uffizi, Firenca

Susanna Buricchi

The history of the Uffizi Gallery is in many ways the history of the collections of the Medici family and the family that came after them, the Lorena.

The gallery, despite modifications and changes, has preserved its original special character that synthesizes political events, family events and cultural choices of absolute power which, sincerely identifying with Tuscan culture as well as Florentine, lasted for three centuries and two dynasties. Enriched over the centuries by dowries, inheritances, exchanges and purchases, the museum gradually turned into a picture gallery. Today, the Uffizi is one of the largest collections of Italian and European painting from the 12th century. to the XVIII. century. The gallery also contains other very valuable collections that reflect the interests of various members of the two royal families of Tuscany: miniatures, antique statues, self-portraits, portraits of celebrities, prints, etc. A walk through the Uffizi is an invaluable aesthetic and cultural experience for everyone. Walking through the gallery halls that line the two parallel wings of the building that join the Arno, we can admire, in chronological order and divided by school, a sequence of masterpieces by Cimabue, Giotto, Botticelli, Simone Martini, Masaccio, Piero della Francesca, Durer, Michelangelo, Pontorno, Titian, Carvaggio and Rembrandt.
