Počeci indijske misli - izbor: Vede, Upanišade, Bhagavadgita, socijalno-politička misao

Rada Iveković

In the book, a selection was made from the Indian cultural heritage, which contains part of the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Bhagavad-gita, and socio-political thought. One of the pioneering works in the development of Indian studies in Croatia and Yugoslav

The book Beginnings of Indian Thought by Rada Iveković deals with the development of philosophical thought in India, from the Vedic period to the classical schools of Indian philosophy. The author analyzes fundamental texts such as the Vedas, the Upanishads, the Mahabharata and the Buddhist sutras, emphasizing their influence on the later development of thought.

Iveković explores the relationship between myth and philosophy and how early Indian thinkers shaped concepts such as atman (self), dharma (duty) and moksha (liberation). He places particular emphasis on the dualism between the Brahminical and Śrāmanic traditions and on the differences between Hindu, Buddhist and Jain thought.

The book provides an insight into the basic concepts of schools such as Samkhya, Yoga and Vedanta, but also critically examines the influence of the caste system on the development of philosophy. Iveković also points out the parallels between Indian and Western philosophy, especially in ethical and ontological issues.

This work is distinguished by its interdisciplinary approach, connecting philosophy with religion, history and social context, making it a valuable contribution to the understanding of Indian thought.
