Basne o komunizmu: Iz pera domaćih, divljih i egzotičnih životinja

Basne o komunizmu: Iz pera domaćih, divljih i egzotičnih životinja

Slavenka Drakulić

After the great success of the novel "Frida or about pain", in the new book Slavenka Drakulić returns to one of her obsessive themes - the fall of communism - which made her a world-famous writer.

The book "Fables of Communism" consists of six stories, told by six different animals, and each one deals with one of the former communist countries of Eastern Europe from that unusual 'animal' angle.

A mole who watched defectors fleeing to the West through the underground tunnels under Berlin tells us about East Germany, a touch of Polish drama is brought by General Jaruzelski's cat who was a witness to his doubts during the suppression of the first rebellions, a raven who witnessed the suicide informs us about the situation in Albania Prime Minister M. Šehu, and in the story of Yugoslavia, the main hero is, of course, Tito's parrot Koki.

Slavenka Drakulić wrote a witty and sharp, fluffy and sad, informative and instructive book that will reveal to young people and remind the elderly what life was like under communism.
