Buran život Amadea Modiglianija

Buran život Amadea Modiglianija

Andre Salmon

A romanticized biography of the Italian painter Amadeo Modigliani, written by the French poet and critic André Salmon.

Published in 1960 in Zagreb, the book provides an intimate insight into the life of an artist known for his bohemian style and tragic fate. Born in Livorno, Modigliani was sickly from a young age, which influenced his life and artistic expression. In Paris, he associated with avant-garde artists, but led a turbulent life marked by poverty, illness and addictions. His love story with the young painter Jeanne Hébuterne ended tragically – after his death, the pregnant Jeanne committed suicide. Salmon, who knew Modigliani personally, combines documentary facts with a literary style in the book, creating a portrait of an artist who left an indelible mark on the art world.
