Iza vrata

Iza vrata

Zvonimir Mikulić-Đono

The novel Iza vrata by Zvonimir Mikulić-Đona is the first novel by the Ljubuški writer, born in Mostar in 1961. The plot follows complex human destinies intertwined through emotional and life stories, set in the Herzegovinian context.

The main characters, everyday people with whom the reader can easily identify, face internal and external conflicts, searching for meaning in a world full of challenges. Mikulić's style is characterized by the use of local language, witty dialogues and symbolism, which emphasizes the authenticity of the characters and the setting. The novel explores themes of love, loss and the search for identity, with a subtle critique of social norms. Through parallel stories, the characters encounter the past and face the consequences of their decisions, while the plot gradually develops towards a common point of convergence. Behind the Door is a work that exudes warmth and a deep understanding of human nature, leaving the reader with a sense of connection and reflection. Mikulić, a civil engineer, makes his debut with this novel, laying the foundations for his recognizable literary expression, which would continue in later works such as Glavom o zid and Kutak kod Kralja.
