Kako sam ribu učio da pliva

Nura Bazdulj Hubijar

How I Taught a Fish to Swim is a psychological novel about the threads and conditioning that make us who we are, about subtle things and spiritual signs.

There is no hope for me anymore. Is it worth continuing and not looking forward to anything, fearing each new day, waiting with great anxiety for each following night? As if in a rage, I go to the medicine cabinet. I shake the bottle of tranquilizers in the palm of my hand. Until now, I have called out to death many times, begging it to take me away quietly and painlessly, like tender mint, in a dream. It has always fallen on deaf ears, taking away those who cried out for life, those from whom strength oozed, joy seethed, those who were afraid of it, fleeing. Now I will outwit it, I will fall asleep with a dream in which there will be no ghosts. The bliss of peace, tranquility, which I have searched for in vain in my life for too long, I will find in this eternal dream. I only want it to be short-lived. I pour the pills into my mouth and with a trembling hand take a glass of water. -Stop! It seems that I hear a voice.
