U tvojim očima

U tvojim očima

Nicholas Sparks

A romantic love story with elements of a thriller, it explores how others see us – not just superficially, but deeply, changing our perspective on life. It ends with hope and a smile, reminding us that love is not perfect, but it is healing.

Colin Hancock, a 28-year-old college student with a turbulent past marked by fights and run-ins with the law, is given one last chance at a new life. Instead of prison, he focuses on finishing his teaching degree, avoiding serious relationships and trying to justify the trust of his friends Evan and Lily. He lives an extraordinary life, but cautiously, knowing that one wrong step can ruin everything. Maria Sanchez, a dark-haired beauty the daughter of Mexican immigrants, is a successful lawyer in a prestigious firm, but she carries deep traumas from her past. After a difficult case that broke her, she returned to her hometown of Wilmington to reexamine her beliefs about justice and love. Responsible and ambitious, Maria is afraid of vulnerability, especially because of family expectations and memories of the violence she experienced.

Their chance meeting takes place on a rainy, dark road: Colin helps Maria with a broken car, and she, despite her prejudices about his appearance and reputation, feels an inexplicable attraction. The closer they get, the more the boundaries blur – the opposites in their worlds (his rebelliousness versus her discipline) become a magnetic force. Shared moments, walks on the beach and deep conversations reveal vulnerabilities: Colin shares stories of the anger that drove him, Maria of the fear of being hurt again. But the idyll is shattered when Maria begins to receive anonymous messages, flowers and threats – her past from her job, including a dangerous case with an accused stalker, now haunts her. Her younger sister Serena becomes the target, leading to tense moments of kidnapping and chase.

Sparks, a master of romantic suspense, turns a love story into a thriller: Colin’s strength and determination are tested in action, while Maria learns to trust the people who see her “as she is”. Friends and family play a key role, emphasizing themes of forgiveness, second chances and the power of love that overcomes prejudice.
