Miguel Aranguren

Spanish author Miguel Aranguren, one of the leading novelists of his generation, creates a tense spiritual, deeply Christian police thriller that combines occultism, crime, and religious struggle.

The action takes place simultaneously in five locations around the world: from the dark streets of Paris and the Vatican, through Asia and America, to the hidden catacombs. Seemingly unrelated events – murders, disappearances and strange rituals – slowly reveal a terrible secret: a powerful occult sect, heir to ancient heresies, is launching crimes aimed at destroying the Catholic Church. Their agenda includes Satanic rituals, manipulations and sacrifices, inspired by the biblical enemy – Satan.

At the center is Father Albertino, a courageous priest and exorcist, who receives a message from a dying colleague: "The enemy has awakened." With the help of a young journalist Laura and a skeptical police officer, Albertino connects the threads of a conspiracy that reaches the highest church hierarchy. The novel builds tension through fast-paced action, psychological depth and religious symbols – crosses are overturned, Bibles are burned, and visions of sin haunt the heroes.

Based on real religious texts and historical events, Aranguren explores the boundaries of faith and evil: can the Church survive internal corruption? The thriller ends with an apocalyptic conflict in Rome, where the soul of humanity is decided.
