"In the meantime: notes" (1987) by Matija Bećković is a collection of short, aphoristic and satirical notes in which the author reflects on society, freedom, morality and human contradictions. Through an ironic and philosophical tone, Bećković portrays the "in-between time" as an unstable space between the past and the future, in which people find their way among changes that they do not fully understand. The book is simultaneously critical, witty and thought-provoking, offering a sharp look at the social reality of its time.
