O duhu otvorenosti: dimenzije misaonog nasleđa Radomira Konstantinovića

O duhu otvorenosti: dimenzije misaonog nasleđa Radomira Konstantinovića

The collection is an important contribution to the revitalization of Konstantinović's thought in the post-Yugoslav space, demonstrating that his critique of the rural mind remains relevant for understanding contemporary social and political pathologies.

The collection of papers (Subotica: City Library; Sarajevo: University Press – Magistrat Publishing, 2016) was created from the papers from the First International Round Table Dedicated to Radomir Konstantinović (1928–2011), held in Subotica in 2015, organized by the Council for the Preservation of Radomir Konstantinović's Intellectual Heritage and the Subotica City Library.

The title takes up the key motif of Konstantinović's thought – the "spirit of openness" as opposed to the "spirit of the palanka" (closedness, provincialism, nationalistic narrowness). The collection explores the multidimensionality of his oeuvre: philosophical (criticism of petty bourgeoisie, totalitarianism, the palanka mind), literary (essays, poetry, "Philosophy of the palanka", "Being and Language"), aesthetic and existential (openness to the Other, critical thinking, anti-fascism, anti-nationalism).

The collection includes 19 authors from the former Yugoslavia: Latinka Perović (a key role in the promotion, highlighted by three central papers), Bora Ćosić, Slavko Šantić, Milorad Belančić ("On the Spirit of Openness"), Lino Veljak, Alpar Lošonac, Milo Babić, Aleksandra Đurić-Bosnić (banality as the rust of society), and others such as Nenad Rizvanović and Tomislav Brlek (in later references).

The texts analyze Konstantinović's legacy in the context of contemporary crises: nationalism, closedness, populism, and its relevance in the fight against the "spirit of the palanka" that is eroding society. The universality of the themes is emphasized - openness as an existential and ethical category, criticism of totalitarian thought patterns, the importance of minority opinion and the culture of dialogue.
