Kad su miši balili molfrinu

Kad su miši balili molfrinu

Drago Štambuk

The threefold wait-what-what nature of the Croatian language radiates in Štambuk a freshness and vigor, which is the poet's guide to the future of the Croatian language, its true community.

It has been about forty years since the physician, diplomat and poet Drago Štambuk (1950) began publishing his verses in magazines and numerous poetry collections. It is difficult to summarize what he sang about in his thousands of verses, but most often it was about love, death, God, homeland and language. Drago Štambuk's poetic work absorbed the experiences of his Mediterranean homeland (Selca on the island of Brač), revealed the convulsive tremors at a time when his homeland was threatened and all the colors of the world he traveled through as a physician and diplomat, from Japan and Korea to Brazil, from London to Tehran, where he currently serves as our ambassador.

Jaka zasićenost i gustoća ove poezije čine nemogućim čitanje ove knjige u jednom dahu. Ona se mora uzimati polako i odmjereno jer svaka pjesma zahtijeva duži proces recepcije.
