Posljednji graničar

Posljednji graničar

Zane Grey

The novel follows the life of a lonely, seasoned frontiersman – a man who lives on the edge of civilization and embodies the old values of the Wild West: freedom, honor, and a connection with nature.

The plot begins with the arrival of new settlers and the changes that bring conflicts over land, resources, and ways of life. The main character reluctantly gets involved in events when he sees injustice – whether it is violence against the weak, the greed of the powerful, or threats to the natural world he knows. Through a series of dangerous situations, chases, and confrontations, he protects the innocent and tries to maintain order in a space where the law has not yet fully taken hold. The story also includes an emotional line – a relationship with a person from the “new world” (often the wife or family of the settlers) that further emphasizes the conflict between the old and new ways of life. In the finale, there is a major conflict with opponents who symbolize greed and lawlessness. The hero wins, but also realizes that his time is passing – civilization is advancing unstoppably.
