Heinz Brandt, der Fremdenlegionär Nr. 81-90 (1914./1915.)
A bound set of 10 original newsstand novels from the legendary series. Early war issues in which Heinz Brandt deserts from the Foreign Legion and fights in the ranks of the German army on the fronts of World War I. Extremely rare!
The numbers from this set belong to early war issues of the series. They came out at the end of 1914 and the beginning of 1915, immediately after the outbreak of the First World War. In that period, the title of the series changes to Heinz Brandt der ehemalige Fremdenlegionär, and the stories increasingly reflect the patriotic spirit and German propaganda against the French Foreign Legion.
The series was created in the context of the long-term German campaign against the French Fremdenlegija (Foreign Legion). The German Empire actively warned young men of the dangers of serving in legionary units, which were often portrayed as a modern slave army and cannon fodder for the French colonial wars. Especially important was the Casablanca-Affäre in 1908.
Heinz Brandt is portrayed as a young, brave and patriotic German who, after the outbreak of war, deserts from the Foreign Legion and joins the German army, fighting on European battlefields (Belgium, France, Vosges, etc.). This perfectly reflected the German mood: escapism through exotic adventures before the war and patriotic war propaganda during the conflict. These issues are classic Vorkrieg / Frühkriegs-Heftromane that capture the transitional period of the series and reflect the spirit of the beginning of the First World War.
Copy Condition:
- Professionally bound as one unit (all 10 issues preserved in their original form).
- Clean pages, without underlining, notes or significant damage.
- Vivid color covers with attractive illustrations typical of the genre.
- General condition: very good for editions older than 110 years.
This set is particularly interesting because it is very rarely available in bound form. It is a continuous block of 10 issues from a key war period. It has significant historical value – a document of the time and popular literature of the First World War. Ideal for collectors of German Heftromans, Vorkrieg series, militaria or Foreign Legion history.
The format is the original kiosk format (Mignon-Verlag, Dresden), bound in a hardcover. The condition is described with maximum precision. We recommend viewing the detailed photographs.
Contemporary collectors increasingly appreciate precisely such bound editions because they offer better protection and practicality compared to individual fragile Hefts. A great addition to a collection with Perry Rhodan, Jerry Cotton or other classic German series. Add this historical rarity to your collection today!
The book consists of 11 volumes.
