Die Wälder des Himmels

Die Wälder des Himmels

Cornelius Fischer

An epic novel by the German writer, journalist and screenwriter Claus Cornelius Fischer about the persecution of Sinti and Roma in Nazi Germany and the love of Zoya and Karia who manage to escape from the transport to the death camps.

The story takes place against the backdrop of the Nazi persecution of Sinti and Roma (so-called “Gypsies”) during World War II. The story centers on lovers Zoj and Karia. While being transported to Polish death camps, they manage to escape and fight for survival in a hostile environment.

Fischer builds a broad, multi-layered novel that combines a love story with historical drama, persecution, fear and resistance. It describes the difficult fate of a minority that often remained in the shadow of the Holocaust, but also the strength of human connection in the midst of horror.

The novel is ambitious and emotional, with a strong focus on historical authenticity and the fate of individuals caught in the millstone of war and racism. Suitable for readers of historical novels about World War II and lesser-known victims of Nazism.
