"Irrigation of Agricultural Crops" (published by the Faculty of Agriculture in Osijek in 2008, today the Faculty of Agrobiotechnical Sciences in Osijek) is a basic university textbook and professional study by leading experts from the Department of Land Reclamation and Water Management. The work is primarily intended for agronomy students, agricultural engineers, and agricultural producers who want to improve production in conditions of increasingly pronounced climate change and drought. The book covers a wide range of theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of hydrotechnics and plant production. The content elaborates in detail the relationship between soil, plants, and water, methods of determining soil moisture, and calculating the water needs of various field, vegetable, fruit, and viticultural crops in individual growth phases. The author systematically presents the technical characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages of various irrigation systems — from traditional methods (surface and underground), through irrigation (sprinklers, self-propelled sector systems/pivots), to modern "drop-by-drop" and fertigation systems. Special attention is paid to the quality of irrigation water, irrigation norms and regimes, and the economic and ecological justification of land reclamation interventions. Written in an exceptionally professional, methodologically adapted and analytical language, the book "Irrigation of Agricultural Crops" represents indispensable literature for understanding sustainable water resource management and achieving stable and high yields in modern agriculture.
