Tozuki

The novel "Tozuki" by Croatian writer and journalist Marija Jurić Zagorka, published in a hardcover edition in 2015 (EPH Media), is an exciting work set in the specific historical and social context of Zagreb immediately after World War I and the emergence of the new state. The title of the novel refers to a secret, well-organized association whose members - from influential politicians and corrupt ministers to dangerous criminals - engage in smuggling, blackmail and political assassinations, avoiding justice and using the chaos of the post-war period for their own enrichment. The plot follows the fight against this criminal network, which draws its roots and interests from old monarchist structures and political intrigues.
