The anthology and commemorative volume S dragih nam polja ("From Our Beloved Fields"), published on the occasion of Pope John Paul II’s third pastoral visit to Croatia, stands as an enduring testament to the historic meeting between the Holy Father and the faithful in Đakovo on June 7, 2003. The title draws inspiration from the distinctive Slavonian landscape and the warmth with which the Diocese of Đakovo-Bosnia (or Syrmia) welcomed the head of the Catholic Church during his milestone 100th international journey. The book brings together documentary, theological, and cultural material related to the event. It includes official speeches, papal homilies, and messages addressed to the people of Slavonia, Baranja, and Syrmia, placing special emphasis on themes of family, work, hope, and renewal following the hardships of war. In addition to the text, the volume is enriched with numerous photographs that capture the celebratory atmosphere at the Đakovo stadium and in front of the magnificent Cathedral of St. Peter.
