Enciklopedija samoupravljanja
A comprehensive encyclopedia of the theory and practice of Yugoslav self-management socialism, featuring entries on associated labor, workers' councils, the delegate system, the economy, law, and social relations.
The Encyclopedia of Self-Management (Enciklopedija samoupravljanja), published in Belgrade in 1979 by Savremena administracija and the Komunist Publishing Center, is a comprehensive reference work dedicated to the theory, history, institutions, and practice of Yugoslav self-management socialism.
Spanning 1,143 pages, it gathers expert contributions from the fields of political theory, sociology, economics, law, philosophy, and other social sciences. It covers fundamental concepts of Marxism and socialism, social ownership, workers' self-management, associated labor, workers' councils, the delegate system, self-managing communities of interest, and the organization of political and economic life in the SFRY.
Special attention is paid to the relationship between the individual and the collective, democracy, social interests, income distribution, the legal system, culture, education, and social values. Contributions by various authors link theoretical considerations with institutional frameworks developed particularly following the 1974 SFRY Constitution and the 1976 Law on Associated Labor.
The encyclopedia stands as a significant record of the official political and scholarly thought of late Yugoslav socialism. Today, it serves as a valuable historical source for researching the self-management model, social institutions, political ideology, and the economic system of the SFRY.
