Najljepše priče klasične starine, 2. dio

Najljepše priče klasične starine, 2. dio

Gustav Schwab

Schwab's work renews the sense of the value of antiquity, that inexhaustible source of folk fantasy that seeks to interpret and explain the world with the original poetic power that is recognized in the traditions of ancient man.

Greek myths have particularly marked the very foundation of the entire Western culture, with diverse motifs and great poetic beauty. Olympian, underground and sea gods, lesser deities, and heroes who are of divine origin through their father or mother, are the main characters of these mythical stories. The most famous are Prometheus, Heracles, Theseus, the Dioscuri, Jason, Perseus, Achilles, Meleager, and many others who perform often difficult and dangerous tasks assigned to them by the gods or by customs inherited from the gods. Schwab covers larger mythological cycles, such as the Trojan War, but there are also the famous heroes Daedalus and Icarus, the Argonauts, Orpheus and Eurydice, Antigone and many others.
