The book exposes the activities of priest Krunoslav Draganović, a key figure in the CIA network and the “rat channels.” Through documents and testimonies, it portrays him as a shadowy intermediary between the Vatican, the Ustashas, and Western intellige

The book Ustaški James Bond 1 by journalist and publicist Boris Rašeta explores the character and activities of priest Krunoslav Draganović (1903–1983), one of the most enigmatic protagonists of political and intelligence networks of the 20th century. Based on archival documents, UDBE files and Western sources, Rašeta reconstructs his life from his role in the headquarters of the Independent State of Croatia, through his activities in the Vatican, to his return to Yugoslavia where, despite accusations of war crimes, he lived under the protection of the authorities.

Draganović was the organizer of the so-called “rat channels”, a network through which tens of thousands of Nazi and Ustaša officials fled to South America, with the help of international church and intelligence structures. Rašeta describes his connections with the OSS, the CIA, the British MI6 and the Vatican Curia, making Draganović a symbol of the Cold War double game between the Catholic Church and the Western powers against the communist bloc.

Through a narrative that combines historical reconstruction and journalistic thriller, the author reveals how Draganović, a priest with the face of a double agent, became one of the most influential and controversial mediators between ideology, politics and espionage. Ustaški James Bond 1 is not only a biography, but also a story about a time in which morality, faith and power were intertwined in the shadow of global conflicts — and the truth was the biggest secret.
