Paranoja

Paranoja

Joseph Finder

The book, published in 2004, was adapted into a film in 2013 starring Liam Hemsworth, Gary Oldman and Harrison Ford. "Paranoia" is a gripping thriller that keeps the reader in suspense until the very last page.

Adam Cassidy, a young and bright employee of Wyatt Telecommunications, gets into trouble after embezzling company money for a colleague's farewell party. Caught red-handed, he faces an ultimatum: prison or a role as a spy for a rival company, Trion Systems. He chooses the latter, drawing him into the dangerous world of corporate espionage.

At Trion, Adam quickly advances, gaining access to classified information. He learns espionage skills, adopts technology, and navigates complex corporate intrigues. But as he climbs the ladder of success, his paranoia and moral conflicts grow. He begins to question his loyalties and what is real, while he is haunted by doubts about himself and others. He meets an attractive colleague, but also jealous rivals, while his personal life is further complicated by family problems.

Finder masterfully depicts the tension of the corporate world, where power, betrayal, and ambition are commonplace. The novel abounds in fast-paced action, unexpected twists, and humorous moments, as it explores themes of trust, identity, and the price of success. Adam's struggle with his own conscience and an increasingly dense network of intrigues lead to a shocking finale.
