Ivan Pregelj (1883.–1960.), slovenski pisac, profesor i katolički intelektualac, boravio je kratko kao profesor na Pazinskoj gimnaziji. Plod tog iskustva je pripovijest Božji mejniki (1925.), kasnije izašla pod naslovom Plovan pre Šime.
