Johann's 501

Johann's 501

Mirjana Novaković

Johann's 501 takes place in Belgrade, which looks and doesn't look like itself and which exists in a time that is, but is not ours.

The heroes of the novel decide to build a new world in a drug trip, caused by a fly agaric mushroom. This change of reality is opposed only by the mysterious object in the silver box, or even the box itself, testifying that the reality they want to change is neither solid nor irrevocable. Suspenseful, funny, mysterious and captivating, Johann's 501 tells the story of the reshaping of reality and the heroes' reasons for fighting for or against that change. At the same time, the novel confronts the reader with the puzzle of the world that should (not) be changed, and with the final (failure) success of this change. However, the key that can bring victory to one or the other is held by the main character who does not care what will happen to the world.

Bonus: a dictionary of fighters against reality.
