Oto Švajcer

The book presents Švajcer's entire bibliography and a selection of his published and unpublished texts (e.g. texts on Krunoslav Kern; Branko Kovačević; Osijek painting between the two wars; Antun Babić as a graphic artist, etc.).

The book "Bibliography: Selected Texts" by Oto Švajcer, published in 1995 by the Gallery of Fine Arts Osijek, presents a retrospective overview of his rich journalistic and critical work. On 127 pages, in a softcover format of 29x22 cm, this publication brings together a selection of Švajcer's art criticism, essays and bibliographical notes, providing insight into his decades-long dedication to documenting and interpreting the Croatian art scene, especially that related to Osijek and Slavonia.

Švajcer was a prominent Croatian art critic and art historian, born in 1907 in Osijek, where he died in 2003. His work includes research into the art heritage of Osijek and Slavonia, with a special emphasis on 18th and 19th century painting, as well as monitoring contemporary art developments. He published art criticism and studies in professional journals and daily newspapers, wrote prefaces to catalogues and monographs, among which Hötzendorf (1982), Adolf Waldinger: 1843–1904 (1982) and Likovna kronika Osijeka: 1850–1969. godine (1991) stand out.

The book was edited, texts selected, bibliography prepared and the foreword written by Vlastimir Kusik.
