Sablast u snijegu

Sablast u snijegu

Elisabeth Herrmann

A masterful blend of family drama and crime. The kidnapping and disappearance of an eleven-year-old boy remained shrouded in mystery even after a lengthy investigation.

Four years later, his body is accidentally found in the forest. A new investigation begins. Suspicion falls on the boy's parents, of Croatian origin, from Vukovar, and the wealthy Reinartz family, in whose villa the boy's mother Lida works, first as a maid and then as a landlady. Many clues point to his father Darko, an expert in wolf protection who leaves many traces in the forest solitude and cannot accept the breakup of his family. And while the investigation is stalling, the moment is right for former policewoman, now student, Sanela Beara to bring light into the deep darkness. She secretly sneaks into the villa and the Reinartz family as a housekeeper and there she discovers many long-hidden secrets. Someone, even an innocent one, will get hurt, but Sanela, young, passionate, self-willed, a bit impudent, but brilliant for her age, will achieve success. In her Acknowledgements at the end of the book, the author Elisabeth Herrmann expresses her pleasure that the Croatian audience will once again read about the headstrong policewoman Sanela Beara, who walks on the edge of what is permissible in her unusual investigative methods. We had the opportunity to meet her in the author's first book published in Znanje, Selo prokletih. After Witnesses of the Dead, this is her third book in the KDS library.
