Bijeg u oblake

Bijeg u oblake

Sibylle Muthesius

The novel is melancholic, introspective, and poetic, with an emphasis on the heroine's inner world. The "clouds" here are both real and metaphorical - a place of escape, but also a symbol of the freedom that comes when you dare to change your life.

The story follows a young woman named Anna, who, after a personal tragedy and feeling trapped in her everyday life, decides to escape her previous life. Tired of the pressure of her family, failed love, and the monotony of the city, she goes to the mountains – a place that represents freedom, silence, and breathing space for her. There, she meets people who live more simply and in harmony with nature. She becomes especially close to a glider pilot, whose passion for flying is a symbol of what she herself is looking for – rising above problems and limitations. Through their friendship (and the slow development of feelings), Anna finds the courage to reexamine what she really wants from life.

Lana Derkač's prose is one of those rare exceptions that does not agree to race on readership charts and adapt to the laws of market logic, exceptions in which subtlety and reflection take precedence over fabularization and flirting with readers.
